What is a light microscope used for?

Observing the overall structure of cells.

Why do light microscopes have limitations?

They have limited magnification and resolution, resulting in blurred images and difficulty viewing small structures.

How do electron microscopes differ from light microscopes in terms of magnification and resolution?

Electron microscopes have greater magnification, higher resolution, and greater resolving power, allowing us to observe sub-cellular structures in detail.

What are the two types of electron microscopes?

Transmission electron microscopes (TEM) and scanning electron microscopes (SEM).

What is the primary use of a Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM)?

To provide detailed images of the internal structures of cells.

How does a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) work?

It bounces electrons off the surface of an object to create detailed 3D images of the surface of cells or tissue.
