What is the purpose of flowers on plants?

Flowers serve the purpose of reproduction through pollination.

What are the male and female reproductive parts of a flower called?

The male reproductive part is called the stamen, and the female reproductive part is called the carpel.

How do bees help with pollination?

Bees collect nectar from flowers, and pollen cells stick to their legs. When bees visit another flower, they transfer the pollen, which can fertilise the egg cells and lead to seed production.

What are the main parts of the carpel in a flower?

The main parts of the carpel are the stigma, style and ovary. The ovary contains the female gamete (egg cell).

What is the function of the petals and sepals?

Petals are brightly coloured to attract insect pollinators. Sepals are protective structures that enclose and protect the unopened flower.

What does the stamen consist of, and what are its functions?

The stamen consists of the anther and filament. The anther produces the male gamete (pollen grains), and the filament supports the anther.
