What is physical health?

Physical health is how well your body works, including how fit and free from physical illness you are.

What is mental health?

Mental health is your emotional well-being, including how you feel, think and cope with everyday life.

What is a disease?

A disease is a condition that stops part of the body or mind working properly, leading to ill health.

How can disease affect a person’s health?

Disease can damage the body or mind, making a person less able to function and reducing their well-being.

Name three lifestyle factors that can affect health.

Diet, how much exercise a person does, and whether they smoke are three lifestyle factors that affect health.

How can an unbalanced diet harm health?

Eating too much or too little of certain foods can cause problems such as tiredness, poor growth, or obesity.

How can regular exercise help maintain good health?

Regular exercise strengthens muscles and the heart, helps control body mass (weight), and can improve mood.

Give two examples of life situation factors that may affect health.

Examples include the quality of housing and access to clean water or medical care.

How can poor mental health lead to poor physical health?
